Meet Salim

Salim Ladha: Blood Type: B+  DOB: Nov. 26, 1970

Salim has been fighting his whole life.

Born with double club feet, he went on to survive being hit by a car, a violent mugging, PTSD, and clinical depression. Then came testicular cancer that had spread throughout his body. Surgeries, treatment, and years of pushing through the hardest moments. He made it through all of it.

And in the middle of that life, he found love. What started as an online word game turned into a real connection with Julie in the UK. Messages became emails, flights back and forth, and eventually a proposal. She moved to Canada, and they built a life together.

Then everything shifted again.

After a sudden collapse and multiple hospitalizations, Salim was diagnosed with non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Since then, it’s been constant complications. A near-fatal battle with sepsis. Repeated emergency visits. Over 20 litres of fluid drained from his abdomen. Chronic exhaustion, pain, and a body that is struggling every day.

He is too sick to work. And right now, his chance of receiving a deceased donor liver are low because of the high demand and long list of people waiting.

A living donor is his best and only real chance.

Salim is a husband, a stepfather, a step-grandfather to a little boy he wants to see grow up. He’s an animal lover who dreams of opening a sanctuary. He’s an artist, a music lover, and someone who has never stopped fighting. And he has so many friends supporting this journey.

Now he needs someone to step forward for him.

If you or someone you know would consider being tested as a living liver donor, you could save Salim’s life.

You may be a candidate if you are:

  • 18 - 60 years of age

  • A healthy weight for your height

  • In good overall health

  • Willing to donate freely
